The Munlab (from Mun, brick in Piedmontese dialect) was founded in 2000 at the initiative of a cultural association that decided to recover the disused spaces of an old brick factory and give it a new life. The objective was to transmit the skills of clay working, study the clay soil of the Poirino Plateau that human beings have processed for millennia, and participate in the sustainable development of the area. Munlab carries out activities of research, education and valorisation of the history of the sites and of the local craftmanship, of the environmental issues linked to the territorial regeneration (specifically to the world of brick kilns and clay quarries), of the man-made signs in the landscape, of design involving clay, of art connected to the landscape. Since 2007, it has been part of the Piedmont Region’s Ecomuseum circuit and collaborates with public and private institutions in Italy and abroad.
